How does simultaneous weight loss + muscle gain work?

to some it may sound stupid, but I went from 300 pounds to 170 (160 is my ideal weight). I am seeking to build muscle while still loosing weight. Do I just eat a lot of protein..It just gets frustrating since at the finish of the week if u operate out genuinely hard, all u see is “weight gain” but I know thats muscle.

How a lot calories must I eat?
enhance protein I am guessing?
Am I loosing the muscle I obtain if I am dieting?

To gain muscle & lose fat is pretty complicated as you have to manipulate your bodys most anabolic hormone which is insulin.
High Insulin levels help build muscle but also make your fat cells grow.
Low Insulin levels put most of your cells in breakdown mode which is good for fat loss but not so much muscle mass. But low insulin levels help bring up higher levels of growth hormone (a hormone responsible for muscle growth & fat loss)

Best way to approach this is to have carbs at certain times of the day or week as carbs have the most effect on insulin especially high GI carbs like processed flours, honey etc

So i recommend carb cycling. Have high days on days you workout the most like leg day or really long intense cardio sessions. Medium on light training like arm, back or chest days. Low carb on days you dont workout.

    Points-
High Carb – 2g-3g carbs per pound of bodyweight
Medium carb – 1g-1.5g carbs per pound of bodyweight
Low Carb – 0.5 Carbs per pound of bodyweight

On lower carb days have more fats to fill caloric needs and also consume at least 1g protein per pound of bodyweight to support muscle growth. Have a good training program that includes lots of compound exercises like squats, dealifts, power cleans, overhead presses, rows etc.

    Good Luck!

I would recommend you prioritize and achieve one first, then the other. If you want to lose more fat, do that first. Often when people get more lean they realize that they don’t need much more muscle because once the fat is gone and you can see your muscles it makes a huge difference.

There is one thing about gaining and losing muscle that is important to understand. Your muscles hold water and when you start working out they will typically hold onto more of it, so you gain some muscle size without your body having to actually build muscle tissue. This is usually what happens when people start working out and gain muscle and lose weight at the same time. Basically, they’ve lost a few pounds of fat and held onto that water but the net result is less scale weight.

For the body to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time is very difficult. As a previous poster said you have to be very particular about diet and maximizing hormone levels. I think it will be easier for you to lose fat first and then decide if you want to gain muscle.

Eat about .8 grams for every pound of body weight and control total portions. You should be all set!

    Good luck!
