40 mins would be better as in order to burn calories your heart rate has to be elevated for a certain number of minutes.
however if your going to slug around for the other 20 mins then stop and do them later or else you wont benifit
look into HIIT workouts and 30 minutes is what i recommend
non stop 40 minute(>30 minute) because you actually start burning fat after 30 minutes
If your intent and purposes is to lose weight, one 40 min workout on treadmill will be better than two 20 min workouts. This is because it takes a while (around 20min) in excercise before the body starts to burn fat. So with the 40min workout, your body will be using nothing but fat as its main source of energy for a good 20 min. This is because all the glycogen energy stores in the muscles and the glucose in the blood is all depleted. Good luck! lol i hoped this helped
The jury is still out on that one, plus it depends on your exercise goals.
There is research to suggest that, for weight loss, multiple shorter exercise routines may be superior to one longer routine.
The reason is probably because the body will burn more total calories with higher intensity exercise.
If you plod along in the fat burning zone (FBZ) you will burn more fat while exercising. But by increasing the intensity of your workout, research has shown you’ll expend more calories during the next 24hours.
So getting back to your question. Two 20 minute high intensity workouts, should be superior to one 40 minute low intensity workout for short-term weight loss. But for keeping it off long-term you need to include some long low intensity exercise as well as the high intensity workouts.
The longer you work out, the better the results. By the time you workout and start burning cals you’re stopping so it’s better to go 40 consecutive minutes!
