Will building muscle burn fat?

I have been operating out for about 6 months now, the last three or so have been very consistent, about 5 days a week. I alternate cardio, pilates, and strength instruction. I have a fairly great diet program and I did not genuinely have any weight to shed, I just wanted to firm. I have noticed good outcomes but seems like my thighs are slightly larger because I can feel the muscle underneath, eventually will this burn off the excess fat in the thigh region?

    Your body burns more fat maintaining muscle than fat, even when you are relaxing. Fat cannot be burned off in any single area but as your body burns fat from all over, you will notice (hopefully pleasant) changes in all areas of your body.
